Road work underway across region
Like clockwork every summer, Minnesota cities rush to repair and improve their roads– Orono, Long Lake, and Maple Plain are no exception. Chickens move to 4040 Regent Avenue North
Eggs and entertainment: Brynn Okeson plans to keep four chickens at 4040 Regent Avenue North, Robbinsdale. Per city code, a person keeping or maintaining more than two chickens must obtain a permit and invite neighbors to a public hearing regarding said permit. The resident needs to follow proper collection and disposal of animal waste, proper storage of food and prevent pest invasion of food spillage and proper supply of water. The police chief, community development director, code enforcement and building official and other city staff approved this permit. At the public hearing, neighbors spoke in favor of the chickens. The council voted unanimously to grant the permit July 16.
State Fair Express Bus Service Returns to Maple Grove
We’re one month away from the start of the Minnesota State Fair, and for the first time in five years, fair-goers will have an express bus option in the northwest metro. Maple Grove Transit will provide bus service to “The Great Minnesota Get-Together” at its main transit station next to the Shoppes at Arbor Lakes.

Maple Grove Commuters Alert, Road Closure on Hemlock Lane and Zachary Lane for Resurfacing Work
Residents and commuters in Maple Grove, brace yourselves for some travel disruption to kick off the work week. According to a post from the City of Maple Grove's official Facebook page, Hennepin County crews are set to carry out resurfacing work on Hemlock Lane/Zachary Lane, from Arbor Lakes Parkway to 85th Avenue/Weaver Lake Road. The roads will be closed to through traffic from Monday, July 22, through Tuesday, July 23, though local residents and businesses will still have access.

Playground Safety a United Effort in New Hope
There are 15 playgrounds in the City of New Hope, and according to city officials, they’re inspected quite regularly. “We’re very proud of our operations manager and our park maintenance workers, as well, as they’re certified playground safety inspectors,” said City of New Hope Recreation Supervisor Aaron Thelen. “They come around the parks throughout the month, and every month our parks are inspected by our maintenance workers, so they’ll check and see if anything’s missing or broken as well.”
