In June, just before his 100-meter freestyle final at USA Swimming’s Olympic Trials, Jack Alexy had a few minutes to be a fan. From the pool deck in Indianapolis, the Mendham native watched Matt Fallon, his longtime Somerset Hills YMCA teammate, win the 200-meter breaststroke “by literally two body lengths” to qualify for Team USA.
SAGE Organization to Host Equipment Swap Event in Newton
NEWTON, NJ—The Student Athletes Giving Extra group, otherwise known as SAGE, is hosting an equipment swap next week on Thursday, August 1. The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newton’s Memory Park. Madison High graduate drafted in eighth round by the Orioles
A change worked out positively for Colin Tuft, and likely played a big role in the Madison High School graduate getting chosen in the recent Major League baseball draft. The catcher and Tulane University junior player recently was selected in the eighth round (249th pick overall) by the Baltimore Orioles.

BRISTOL, CT - In a heartbreaking game, the Hanover Township 12U Softball All Stars lost to the New York State team, 3-0 in the Little League Softball Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament. SPARTA, NJ – A Sparta Youth Football player has been selected to be a member of the Eastern United States team in the All-American Game in Arlington, TX in December. Thirteen-year-old Connor McKernan caught the attention of the team’s organizers at the Offense-Defense All-American camp at Kean University this summer, according to his mother, Francesca McKernan.
