    1 killed, multiple hurt in 5-car crash on US 287 in Boulder County

    DENVER (KDVR) — One person died and four people were taken to the hospital in a five-car crash on U.S. 287 on Friday afternoon.

    It happened south of Longmont and just south of Oxford Road, according to Mountain View Fire Rescue.

    Mountain View Fire said one person died, four people were taken to the hospital and two people declined treatment after the crash, which reportedly involved high speed and a head-on collision.

    U.S. 287 was closed just before 2:30 p.m. while responders investigated and cleaned up the scene. It reopened around 5 p.m.

    Colorado State Patrol and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office were investigating the crash.
