NEW YORK (AP) — Jake Cave had four hits and three RBIs and fell a triple shy of hitting for the cycle as the Colorado Rockies beat the New York Yankees 9-2 on Saturday. Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, who leads the MLB with 49 homers, went 0 for 2 with a walk and had his consecutive game home run streak halted at four. Judge grounded into a force out in the first inning, flew out in the third, walked in the fifth and was hit by a pitch in the eighth, ending his bid — at least temporarily — to hit 50 homers for the third time in his nine-year career.

Must-see TV: Coach Prime’s Buffs aim to produce wins, as well as ratings
Ohio State had no reason to concern itself with Colorado in 2023. The Buckeyes and Buffaloes aren’t in the same conference. They haven’t played each other since 2011. And, the 2023 Buckeyes didn’t play anyone that faced CU, so there was no reason to even scout a game in which the Buffs were involved.

💵 Boulder is raising its minimum wage
It’s Friday, August 23, 2024. Good morning, Boulder. Welcome to Friday. Last night, the Boulder City Council debated an increase to the city’s minimum wage, currently set at $14.42 — insufficient for most to afford living in Boulder. Councilmembers grappled with balancing the needs of workers against the potential strain on local businesses. They ultimately agreed to consider raising the wage to between $15.57 and $16.58 per hour starting next year, with further increases planned over the following two years. This discussion follows Boulder County’s recent minimum wage increase to $15.69 in January and Denver’s hike to $18.29.
