LONGVIEW, Texas ( KETK ) – The City of Longview announced its Adopt-A-Park program, bringing community involvement into maintaining their city parks.
An old Athens motel will be converted into a new affordable housing complex thanks to a construction company in Dallas that partnered with the City of Athens. According to a release, the program will invite residents, businesses, community organizations, church groups and more to “take an active role in maintaining and beautifying [Longview] parks.”
The city said that those that take part in adopting parks will “commit to regular cleanup efforts, removing litter and debris, assisting minor repairs and improvements and identifying and reporting safety hazards to the city.”
According to the city, there are a total of 46 adoptable parks and trail segments, 24 of which are already adopted leaving 22 to still be adopted by the community.

Our goal is to have every park in the City of Longview adopted by July 2025, and we are confident that this campaign will inspire many to take action.”
