LONGVIEW, Texas ( KETK ) – A family in Longview experienced a terrifying moment when a rock hit their back window, now they are seeking the publics help.

While their children are recovering from injuries, they are looking for answers.

The incident happened on Pine Tree Road when the Smith family was leaving a relative’s house when something struck the back window of their vehicle.

“It sounded like a gunshot” Daisy Smith said. “I looked back, the window was shattered and at that point all three of my children were screaming.”

Smith said a rock the size of a fist hit their back window, shattering glass all over her three children.

She said that after her car was struck, she pulled over to a safe spot to process what happened and check on her children. She found her middle child bleeding from the back of the head and scratches on her other two children.

“Told the girls to get out while I grabbed the baby and that’s when my middle child found out she was bleeding from the head,” Smith said “They then started screaming all over again.”

Smith thinks that the rock actually hit her child in the back of the head.

“I’m trying to get glass off their faces and bodies, at the same time the only thing I have is a diaper to hold her head to stop the bleeding,” Smith said. “It was all over them. I thank God he was watching them”

Now the family is looking for answers and for investigators to catch the person responsible.

“I would really like to see justice, I want to know who did this and I want them to know that this was wrong,” Smith said. “It’s a felony offense and my children might not have made it.”

The family is asking for people in the area to check ring cameras and if anyone has information to report it to authorities.

“My children might be physically okay, but they are not mentally okay, and they will not forget this and neither will I,” Smith said.
