BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – WVU Tech and Pendleton Community (PCB) Bank marked another significant milestone in their collaborative partnership on Tuesday with a rather unique ribbon cutting ceremony with the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce.

WVU Tech faculty members were joined on campus by PCB and chamber of commerce members for the unveiling of the facility’s new co-branded Communiversity ATM.

The ceremony was held at the school’s Robert C. Byrd Learning Resource Center and featured several speakers including Karen Ewing of both PCB and the BRCCC, WVU Tech President, Dr. Ramon Stuart, and PCB CEO Bill Loving.

“It’s an opening to the community and to the university in a way in which we can continue to help grow the university and by virtue grow this community,” said Loving in a sentiment echoed by Dr. Stuart in remarks regarding the collaborative “Cub Club” savings account program which was designed to help students to develop financial understanding from a young age.

“I just think it’s so phenomenal that we can teach people at an early age how to save money, starting with the account making deposits when young people make good grades,” said Dr. Stuart. “I think that not only builds lifelong financial literacy, but it also speaks to the value of a community bank where you’re trying to build them up while they’re little, so when they grow big they continue to do big things. “

A percentage of the fees from the co-branded ATM will go toward the William ‘Bill’ Benn Student Success Fund, which is intended to support future generations of Golden Bears in financial need.

The ATM is now active and ready for use on the second floor WVU Tech’s Robert C. Byrd Learning Resource Center.
