    EF0 Tornado strikes Putnam County

    PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An EF0 tornado, characterized by 65-85 mph wind speeds, formed near the intersection of Radwin Drive and Hazel Circle in Winfield.

    According to the National Weather Service in Charleston , the tornado caused significant damage to trees and resulted in soffit/siding damage to a home in the area. As it moved in a northeasterly direction, the tornado passed through the ballfields located behind Winfield Elementary School.

    A video circulating on social media provided a clear view of the tornado as it advanced into the Courtyard Estates neighborhood, where it caused minor damage to trees before eventually dissipating.

    This event marks the 9th confirmed tornado in Putnam County, and the 3rd one reported so far this year.

    A few days ago, West Virginia tied the tornado record set in 1998.
