Buncombe County -- July 22, 2024: On July 17th, the Buncombe County Commissioners made a contentious decision to shut down. French Broad Outfitters' (FBO) Hominy Creek location, a popular river bar and recreation space that has become a beloved community spot since it began leasing the outpost along Asheville’s French Broad River in 2018. Known for its live music, riverside beach, and dog-friendly ambiance, FBO's Hominy Creek location has been a vibrant part of West Asheville since 2016.

In a news release on Friday, July 12, 2024, the sheriff's office says 26-year-old Tyler Ashby was last seen leaving his Candler home exactly one year ago wearing black sweatpants and a shirt.
