Raleigh County Schools Back-to-School Wellness & Community Outreach Fair hosted at convention center

BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Hundreds of students, families, and community members made their way to the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center on Friday, where Raleigh County Schools hosted its annual Back-to-School Wellness and Community Outreach Fair.

A multitude of organizations set up in support of the event, engaging with students and families, and providing valuable insight into various programs, services, and educational opportunities available throughout the county.

The Raleigh County Schools Transportation Department, Raleigh County Public Library, and Raleigh County Family Support Center were just some of the entities to participate in the event, which afforded local students the opportunity to partake in several games and activities, as well as the opportunity to board and explore a full-size Raleigh County Schools bus, which could be found parked at the center of the proceedings.

Food, drinks, and various prizes and giveaways were also made available as part of the Community Wellness & Outreach Fair, with many in attendance leaving with free school supplies and various prizes, and some even leaving with a free haircut.

Raleigh County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Serena Starcher was on hand along with other Raleigh County Schools team members for the community event, which featured booths for students of all grade levels.

Raleigh County students will return to the classroom later this month, with Thursday, August 22, 2024, marking the official beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.
