HURRICANE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A fight breaks out between two brothers because one was so tired that the other spent all his time indoors and didn’t help with household chores.

On August 11, 2024, at 9:02 PM, Deputy Moses was called to a domestic disturbance at 2231 Chestnut Street in Hurricane, Putnam County , WV. Dispatch informed him that a child reported her uncles were fighting in the yard while their grandmother attempted to intervene.

Upon arrival, Deputy Moses first spoke with Paul Oldham. He explained that he argued with his brother, claiming he “whooped his ass” because his brother was talking back. Moses noticed Paul appeared intoxicated, slurring his words and swaying. Paul expressed frustration that his brother spent all his time indoors and did not help with household chores.

Next, Moses talked to Earl Oldham, Paul’s brother. Earl stated that Paul had been drinking and arguing with him. He explained that after taking out the trash, Paul hit him on the side of the head, causing him to fall to the ground. Earl indicated that Paul got on top of him and continued to strike him. Moses observed a red mark on Earl’s face. Earl also mentioned that during the altercation, Paul threatened to kill him, and he feared for his life.

Moses then interviewed the mother of Paul and Earl. She reported seeing Paul hitting Earl and attempted to break up the fight but was pushed to the ground. She later managed to separate them by getting Paul off Earl.

As a result of the incident, Paul Oldham was charged with Domestic Battery and Domestic Assault.
