WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after he stopped his ATV to sleep and waited for someone to pick him up.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, August 8, a deputy responded to a report of an individual on an ATV stopped in the middle of Badgley Fork Road, near Palser Ruble Road.

Upon arrival, the deputy found the ATV parked off the road in a drainage ditch, with a man lying against a duffle bag.

The deputy attempted several times to wake the man, who was later identified as 44-year-old Joshua Shawn Cayton of Walker Lane.

When Cayton finally awoke, the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.

Cayton explained that he had pulled over to sleep and was waiting for someone to pick him up.

After a few minutes, the deputy advised Cayton to call his ride again, but he only left a voicemail.

When offered a ride by the deputy or the option to call a cab, Cayton refused both.

Cayton was subsequently arrested on charges of public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana).

He is currently out on bond.
