    $10.8 million-plus in investments set to create jobs in West Virginia

    MORGANTOWN, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The US Department of Agriculture has announced $10.8 million-plus in investments which stand to strengthen communities, lower costs, and create jobs throughout West Virginia.

    “From upgrades to major water and wastewater infrastructure, to construction and renovation of essential community facilities, the funding announced today will have a significant impact on the people living in these communities,” said US Department of Agriculture Rural Development State Director, Ryan Thorn.

    “Rural Development is committed to improving infrastructure and creating new opportunities for the people living in our rural communities. The Rural Partners Network is a testament to that commitment and to ensuring that resources for rural communities continue to reach the people who need them the most.”

    Four organizations in West Virginia will receive funds from the $10.8 million-plus investment, including the Red Sulphur Public Service District, which will receive a Water and Waste Disposal Grant for $334,000.

    Montgomery Building Commission is set to receive a Community Facilities Grant totaling at $833,000, while the McDowell County Commission will receive a Community Facilities Grant in the amount of $5,468,000.

    The City of Williamson is also set to receive funding on by the Rural Development’s Water and Waste Programs. This funding will be issued on behalf of the Appalachian Regional Commission and will be issued in the amount of $4,200,000.

    The USDA will be awarding a total of $49 million in loans and grants across the nation which will go toward supporting 59 economic development projects in communities throughout nine states as well as Puerto Rico.

    These investments will assist in addressing the immediate needs of residents and creating economic growth which can be sustained over an extended period. Such projects aim to lower costs for small businesses and families, expand business opportunities, and create jobs.

    Funding will be used for the modernization of infrastructure, enhancement of community food and water resources, providing of affordable housing, and more.
