Jess McMullen sworn in as Chief Deputy of Fayette County Sheriff’s Department

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Jess McMullen was officially sworn in as Chief Deputy of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department on Monday morning.

Newly appointed Sheriff Shannon Morris chose McMullen as his Chief Deputy.

McMullen was sworn in by Fayette County Circuit Judge Thomas Ewing.

Morris was sworn in as sheriff on August 8 after being appointed by the Fayette County Commission following the resignation and retirement of former Sheriff Mike Fridley.

Both Morris and McMullen have been a part of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department for numerous years.

Morris has served with the department in some capacity for 18 years now with his most recent position being Chief Deputy under Sheriff Fridley.

McMullen has been with the department since the early 2000s following a 22-month deployment with the National Guard during Operation Enduring Freedom between 2003-04.

McMullen also served as the Prevention Resource Officer at Oak Hill High School and his most recent position was patrolman with the Fayetteville Police Department.

McMullen is currently running for Fayette County Sheriff as the Republican nominee. He has no Democratic opponent.
