BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A brawl between two sisters lands them in jail; one threatened to kill her sister and father.

On a late August evening, the Boone County 911 center received a domestic disturbance call regarding an altercation at a residence in the small community of Hewett, West Virginia. Deputy R.B. Dotson, the responding officer, arrived on the scene shortly after to find an ongoing, volatile confrontation between two sisters—Elizabeth Dent and Melissa Love—who lived together at the home.

According to the sisters’ accounts, the dispute had erupted over the care of their aging parents. Love claimed that Dent had followed her to a bedroom and shoved her, then poked her in the face with her finger. Dent, on the other hand, stated that Love had been the one to initiate the shoving.

The disagreement had quickly escalated, with the two women continuing to hurl curses and insults at one another as the deputy tried to intervene. Their father further reported that Love had threatened to kill him and that both sisters had made physical contact during the heated argument.

Faced with an increasingly volatile situation that threatened to turn violent, the deputy grew concerned that the sisters or even their elderly parents could end up getting physically harmed. Despite attempts to separate and calm the two women, their fighting and yelling persisted, making it impossible for the officer to properly document statements from either party.

Ultimately, with the sisters refusing to de-escalate, the deputy had no choice but to advise them of their domestic violence rights and encourage them to each seek out a protective order against the other.

This disturbing family feud, playing out in the small, unincorporated community, had spiraled dangerously out of control, leaving the responding officer little option but to remove himself from the volatile scene.
