BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic dispute fueled by alcohol lands a couple in jail after turning violent.

On the evening of Tuesday, August 20th, 2024, a domestic disturbance unfolded at a residence on Low Gap Road in Boone County, West Virginia. Around 10 PM, local law enforcement officers responded to a 911 call reporting a heated argument between a man and woman at the address. As the officers approached the home, dispatchers relayed that they could hear the two individuals loudly shouting at each other over the phone line.

Upon arrival, the officers could clearly hear the raised voices of a man and woman coming from within the residence. After knocking for several minutes, a woman named Kaliegh Cook emerged, wearing only a bath towel and reeking of alcohol. She explained that she had been involved in an altercation with her boyfriend, Clenten Toler, who was found in the master bathroom. The officers then encountered Toler, who also exhibited signs of intoxication and had two black eyes – one of which he claimed was from a previous incident several days prior.

The officers separated the couple and interviewed them individually. Cook stated that Toler had been physically intimidating her and making threatening verbal remarks, leading her to retaliate by punching him. She also admitted to intentionally throwing a blue tumbler at Toler, which resulted in broken glass strewn across the kitchen floor. Toler, for his part, corroborated that Cook had struck him with a closed fist, causing the swelling under his right eye.

Ultimately, it was determined that both individuals had engaged in unlawful behavior – Cook through her use of physical violence, and Toler through his attempts at physical intimidation and verbal beratement of his intimate partner. The volatile domestic dispute, fueled by alcohol, had escalated to the point of property damage and bodily harm within the shared residence in Boone County, West Virginia.
