Daniel Callihan, the 36-year-old man charged with first degree murder in the death of Loranger mother Callie Brunett, and also charged with kidnapping her two daughters, is in federal custody in Plaquemines Parish, WWL-TV reports.

Callihan was extradited from Mississippi, where he was being held after his arrest in Jackson.

Authorities say Callihan stabbed Brunett to death in her Tangipahoa Parish home, then abducted her 4-year-old daughter Erin and 6-year-old daughter Jalie. The kidnapping set off an hours-long manhunt on June 13, including an AMBER Alert issued by Louisiana State Police.

Erin was found murdered in Jackson not far from where police caught him.

A Louisiana grand jury indicted Callihan and an alleged accomplice, Victoria Cox, on murder and kidnapping charges. The pair also face murder and kidnapping charges in Mississippi, and federal kidnapping charges in New Orleans.
