The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office says 31-year-old Sarah Folse and 52-year-old Deanna Witten, both of Amite, turned themselves in Thursday after they allegedly stole three German Shepherd puppies last weekend from a home in the Loranger area.

“They did not provide detectives with any potential motivation, nor the location of the puppies. So at this time we are still needing the public to assist us in locating those puppies,” said TPSO spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue.

Surveillance video shows two women taking the dogs off their leashes from the homeowner’s back porch.

“That caused a lot of conversation which we certainly saw on social media and of course through our media partner like you guys,  and that could have certainly have led to turning themselves into the jail,” said Rodrigue.

Rodrigue says the homeowner has no connection with the two women arrested.

“It is very possible that these individuals having learned information about the puppies due to advertisements to sell them figured out a way to find them and to get them for that purpose but we just don’t know at this time,” she said.
