'It's time for growth': Downtown Waco development contract for design approved to move forward
WACO, Texas (KXXV) — Waco's City Council approved the contract for design of the first part of the Downtown Redevelopment Plan. They will begin engineering, landscaping and architecture in the Barron's Branch District. This design and pre-development phase now costs $12.3 million, after $6 million in funding was added.
New city of Waco landfill nearing completion as the current landfill fills up
WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The city of Waco landfill was purchased from the city of Woodway back in 1986, and after 38 years, is almost full. The city’s director of solid waste told KWTX they anticipate the existing landfill will only be in operation through 2025, which is right in time for the opening of a new landfill along FM 939 between Mount Calm and Axtell.
Lake safety for the Fourth of July
WACO, Texas (FOX 44) – Lots of people will be at the lake this Fourth of July, as it is the busiest time of year to be on the water. Lake Waco Manager Michael Champagne says to make sure your boat is registered before heading out, and to always have a whistle or a loud sound device with you. There should be enough life jackets on the boat for everyone, and kids should always have them on. These same rules apply to paddleboarders and kayakers. Even if you’re not in the water, always have your life jacket on.
