CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — A man is being held without bond in Horry County after police said he threatened to “blow that place up” after calling the police department evidence section to ask about getting back some items that were seized in a previous arrest.

Demetrick Trashawn Simon, 21, of Loris, was arrested and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center after the incident on Wednesday morning. He is charged with threatening to kill, injure or intimidate an individual or damage property with a bomb; threatening the life of a public office; unlawful possession of a machine gun or sawed-off shotgun or rife; possession of a weapon during a violent crime; and trafficking in fentanyl.

According to an incident report, Simon called the evidence section at 8:48 a.m. Wednesday to ask about property that was seized when he was arrested on July 16. In that case, he was charged with receiving stolen goods and accessory after the fact to a felony and released on a $5,500 bond, according to online jail records.

During the call, the report said he became agitated and said, “I will blow that place up.” Authorities were able to track him down in part because he had identified himself and spelled out his first and last name during the phone call.
