Wernicke: Parks & Recreation Board Update For June 2024

We first heard public concerns that conducting aquatic center maintenance from September to April could negatively impact swim teams and other users. While contractor availability will play a role in scheduling, the PRB is committed to working with the Community Services Department (CSD) to minimize disruptions. Public comments like these are invaluable, and we encourage community input at the start of all our meetings to better serve public interests.
Moving Arts Española looking for new location after lease won’t be renewed
ESPAÑOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – One of the most influential programs in northern New Mexico is looking for a new place to call home and they only have a few months left to do so. This program was highlighted on CNN Heroes back in 2019. For those in the Espanola Valley, it’s a special place. “I’ve been coming here since I was at least three,” said Peyton Maestas, a student at Moving Arts.
