Los Angeles police reached out to the public Wednesday for help finding the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a 43-year-old woman in the Vermont Knolls area of South Los Angeles.
Kyesha Hardgraves was struck shortly after midnight Sept. 30, 2023, at the intersection of Normandie Avenue and West 83rd Place.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a motorist driving south on Normandie "at a high rate of speed" struck Hardgraves then fled south without stopping. Hardgraves was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police noted that the city of Los Angeles has a standing reward offer of up to $50,000 for information that leads to a conviction in a fatal hit-and- run.
At a Wednesday morning news conference, detectives asked anyone with information or video to come forward, noting that even the smallest bit of information or video can be critical.

"It gives us a better chance to solve this, because we get to the point where we get that one right video or that one angle that maybe changes this case and we can identify somebody," LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno told reporters.
Hardgraves' daughter, Kaylesha, urged anyone with information to come forward.
"My mom was a very kind person, the type of person who would give you the shirt off of her back," she said. "And she was very -- when she walked in a room, she just lit up the whole room."
Police released surveillance video from the crash scene in hopes of generating tips from the pubic about the vehicle or its driver.
