Steve Kerr is the four-time Larry O'Brien Trophy winning coach of the Golden State Warriors, one of the Los Angeles Lakers' biggest rivals of the last decade.

On Tuesday, Kerr joined longtime radio talk show host Jim Rome and was asked about JJ Redick's transition from the broadcast booth to Lakers head coach.

Kerr had a five-word response to anyone who doubts whether Redick will be successful or not, considering the challenging transition he is about to make.

"JJ is going to be great,"" Kerr said to Rome about his upcoming coaching job with the Lake Show.

"I mean he's smart as hell, he's been in the league for so long, he understands how this league operates.

Kerr added that each coach has a different set of circumstances and the NBA is unpredictable.

"Obviously, there's a learning curve for everybody. But each one of us has our own unique set of circumstances that we deal with and I was given a golden opportunity, no pun intended, you know when I became the Warriors' coach in 2014 with a talented young roster.

"As coaches in the NBA we're all kind of dependent on the talent and character of our players and the support that we get from upstairs and so everyone has a unique set of circumstances."

Kerr thinks Redick will find his way, but cautioned that the NBA is a "crazy" league right now in terms of expectations for coaches.

"JJ will find his own circumstances and as we know in this league, nothing is guaranteed, nothing is given," Kerr added, referencing the recent firing of Monty Williams by the Detroit Pistons and Frank Vogel of the Phoenix Suns after one year with lots of money on their contracts.

"The league's never been crazier," Kerr added.

"It is nuts. So in my mind, you go in and you try to unify with your front office, your management and try to build something solid and see where it goes."
