The UCLA Bruins 2025 recruiting class hits lucky number 13 with the addition of three-star pro-style quarterback Colton Gumino. Gumino is the second quarterback from the 2025 class to commit to the program since DeShaun Foster took over as head coach. He announced his decision via X on Friday morning.

“I would like to highlight the impact of Coach Foster, whose genuine personality and dedication to his team make him a truly great person to be around,” Gumino told 247 Sports.

Four-star QB Madden Iamaleava committed to the Bruins on May 25th.

UCLA extended an offer to the 6’2″ 190 lbs Arlington Heights native in mid-May and just hosted an official visit for him on June 21st. Now a week later, Gumino made up his mind. He had received offers from 17 other schools including Florida, Iowa State, and Kansas. UCLA was the only school he officially visited.

Gumino is ranked as the 84th-best quarterback in the nation and the 39th-best prospect based in Illinois.

UCLA’s 2025 recruiting class is now ranked 39th.

“UCLA’s holistic approach to player development is crucial to me,” Gumino told 247. “The program emphasizes not only athletic prowess but also leadership, character, and life skills. This comprehensive approach ensures that I will be prepared for success both on the field and in my future endeavors. Overall, the positive atmosphere, camaraderie, and shared dedication to success at UCLA resonate with me. I am confident that UCLA is where I can build lasting relationships and make significant contributions to the team.”

As a junior at John Hersey High School , Gumino completed 118 passes for 2172 yards, 27 touchdowns, and only four interceptions in 11 games. He also flashed his dual-threat ability, rushing for 51 yards and five touchdowns.

“As a player, I think obviously, what he’s known for is his arm talent. He throws that ball as good as anyone I’ve seen at least and I’ve seen some good ones in the college and the NFL,” Colton Gumino’s coach told 247.

“He throws it really well, people know that. People probably underestimate his athleticism. You’ll see that more this year. We’ll use him more in the run game — didn’t need to last year — and he’s probably the fastest kid on our team. He’s a fast accelerator, decelerator, changes directions well and even the colleges recruiting him probably didn’t know that piece because he hadn’t put much of it on film but it’ll be fun to unleash him in that role this year.”
