The basketball community was set ablaze on Thursday evening when it was announced that the Los Angeles Lakers drafted Bronny James with the No. 55 pick of the 2024 NBA Draft.

There was a ton of excitement and speculation about what this would mean.

And it took less than a day for one of the most common questions to get answered.

Lakers fans found out on Friday that Bronny will be wearing jersey number nine with LA.

The announcement was made on the Lakers' X account on Friday.

And fans seem to believe that Bronny chose this number to honor his father.

One Lakers fan wrote in the replies, "Clever, 9 is an upside down 6".

"N**** picked a upside down 6," wrote another X user.

It's worth noting that, while Bronny's dad LeBron has worn the number 6 in multiple NBA seasons, he has worn number 23 more often, and is currently wearing #23 for LA.

Although fans are still convinced that Bronny chose this number in tribute to his dad.

"Turn the 6 upside down it’s a 9 now!" a third fan wrote, which is a reference to an iconic Drake song lyric.

This signals a good start to Bronny's pro career.
