Bronny James Officially Picks His Lakers Jersey Number

Bronny James has officially joined his father, LeBron James, as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

In the latter half of the 2024 NBA Draft, the Lakers selected Bronny with the No. 55 pick in the second round. His selection marks the first time in NBA history that a father and son will be in the league at the same time, let alone the same team.

Bronny, a former USC Trojans star, joins Tennessee Volunteers standout Dalton Knecht in the Lakers 2024 draft class. Both players are expected to suit up in San Francisco and Las Vegas for the Summer League in July.

After being drafted, Bronny's official number for the Lakers was revealed one day later. He decided on No. 9, and the name "James Jr." will be displayed on the back of his jersey.

During his time at USC, Bronny played for one year and primarily served as a substitute in 26 games. Averaging 19.3 minutes per game, he achieved an average of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. The Trojans concluded the season with a disappointing record of 15-18.
