Lincoln Riley, USC Trojans Secure Huge Commitment From 2025 Offensive Weapon

The USC Trojans recruiting class has taken several hits in June, with multiple top commits either flipping to other schools or re-opening their recruiting process. Fortunately for Lincoln Riley, the Trojans recruiting class added a new name on Sunday.
Coming off two important weekends of visits from top recruits on USC’s radar, Sunday delivered what the Trojans are hoping is the first in a wave of new commitments. It also came at a position that USC has seemed to be targeting based on its interests.
On Sunday afternoon, Christian Brothers wide receiver Corey Simms announced his commitment to the Trojans. USC was in a battle with Missouri, Penn State, Tennessee, and Nebraska, but came out on top for the Missouri native.
Simms is just the second wide receiver among the 12 Trojans commits for the 2025 cycle. He joins 5-foot-10 wide receiver Romero Ison (Baltimore City College) as one of just five offensive skill players, with a majority of the Trojans commits addressing the defensive side of the ball.
Corey Simms recruiting ranking
Rivals : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 89th nationally and 19th wide receiver
247 Sports : ⭐️⭐️⭐️, 261st nationally and 54th wide receiver
On3 : ⭐️⭐️⭐️, 293rd nationally and 45th wide receiver
The Trojans managed to secure Simms’ commitment despite him taking final visits to Nebraska (June 14) and Missouri (June 21) after he took an official visit at USC on June 7. Riley and the Trojans coaching staff offered him a scholarship in February, becoming one of the last Power 4 schools to offer him.
Assuming he sticks to his commitment, Simms would be joining a relatively experienced Trojans death chart in 2025. It would allow him to learn from wide receivers like Zachariah Branch, Makai Lemon, Ja’Kobi Lane, and Duce Robinson, all of whom would be heading into their junior seasons.
While there wouldn’t be a clear path to playing time as a freshman, Riley’s offenses have always been pass-friendly with several of his former pass-catchers now in the NFL. While other schools will try and flip Simms in the coming months, he has long been considered a strong lean to the Trojans after being recruited by Dennis Simmons.
