The Los Angeles Lakers are working hard to bring another big name to town. As soon as NBA free agency kicked off, news surfaced of Klay Thompson being a top option for the team.

In fact, LeBron James took a big step in hopes of luring Thompson to come to the Lakers.

"He and his agent Greg Lawrence are talking to a number of teams, including the Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks...I'm told LeBron James called Klay Thompson right when free agency opened...The expectation is that these conversations, this negotiation will go into tomorrow."

It was reported on Sunday that Thompson's time with the Golden State Warriors is set to come to an end and they are examining sign-and-trade scenarios for the sharpshooter.

And LeBron is doing whatever it takes to convince Thompson to come to the Lakers.

The Dallas Mavericks are another option for Thompson, so it will be interesting to monitor his market and see where he ends up.

Nonetheless, James did his due diligence and wasted no time, even giving Thompson a call at 6 PM ET when free agency kicked off.

If the Lakers can land Thompson, it would form a talented trio of LeBron James, Klay Thompson, and Anthony Davis as they try and make a run for an NBA title.
