A United States Marine who nursed two sick dogs back to health while deployed was reunited with them at the Los Angeles International Airport over the weekend.

Gunnery Sergeant Craig Wooten was serving in the Eastern European nation of Georgia when he met Latte and Biscuit, who were both battling canine parvovirus , an infection that attacks white blood cells and the gastrointestinal tracts of dogs, coyotes, wolves and foxes.

Wooten took the pups to the vet daily and cared for them until they were healthy, giving them a second chance at life after the parvovirus killed the rest of their siblings.

It all came full circle June 29 when the American serviceman and his wife went to LAX to pick them up and take them to their new forever home.

The fully recovered dogs seemed to be loving their new life immediately, jubilantly greeting their new owners at the airport and frolicking around their fresh surroundings.

The reunion was made possible by SPCA International’s Patriot Pets Program , which has reunited over 1,200 servicemembers with their furry friends.
