NBA fans have expressed skepticism following newly hired Los Angeles Lakers head coach J.J. Redick’s recent comments about Bronny James at the rookie’s introductory press conference.

"Bronny has earned this through hard work," said Redick. "There's a lot to like about his game."

The Los Angeles Lakers drafted Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft following months of speculation about his entry into the draft and his eventual joining of the team.

Many fans still believe Bronny’s draft selection is heavily influenced by his father, NBA legend LeBron James.

"But if we are being honest and not biased here, he wouldn’t be in the NBA or even the G-League if he wasn’t LeBron's son," said one fan.

“My daddy drafted me," said another.

"Yeah J.J. (Redick) a Lebron stooge now," added one more.

    "Cap," another individual said.

It appears that the majority of fans share the same opinion: LeBron undoubtedly played a major role in the drafting of his son.

Bronny played one year at the University of Southern California, appearing in only 25 games due to a health scare. He suffered a cardiac arrest on July 24 during a USC practice and was hospitalized for three days in Los Angeles.

Bronny averaged just under five points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

Despite the doubts, Bronny and LeBron are set to make history as the first-ever father-son duo in the NBA. This isn't the only big news for Bronny today.

Early Tuesday morning, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that Bronny James plans to sign a multiyear guaranteed rookie contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
