“Never Really Had A Thought” – Bronny James Boldly Claims Playing With His Dad Didn’t Impact His Decision To Enter NBA Draft

The "N" in NBA might stand for "Nepotism." In case you missed it, the 2024 NBA Draft made headlines last week for its exciting, highly anticipated... 55th pick. Yeah, no one really cared about who was going in the top five this year with the weaker (by comparison) draft class. All anyone wanted to see was where - or better yet, if - LeBron James' son Bronny would get drafted. Strangely enough, Bronny got drafted by the team his father plays for with the 55th pick. That's right. In a
shocking coincidence that NO ONE saw coming, Bronny and LeBron James are teaming up on the Los Angeles Lakers. Not only are they the first father-son duo to play on the same team, but they are also the first father-son duo to merely play in the NBA at the same time. It's history in the making. LeBron's longevity has been a sight to behold, and he's now played so long at such a high level that he's able to pull the strings and get his son drafted still be playing and available on a team that his son could get drafted to. What are the odds? If you ask literally anyone outside the James family, they'd say the odds of them ending up on the same team were pretty good. But if you ask LeBron, or even Bronny, they are still going with the story of the "stars aligning" for them to end up playing together on the Lakers. During Bronny's introductory press conference, a reporter asked what everyone else was thinking, inquiring if Bronny deciding to leave USC this year and enter into the NBA Draft had anything to do with his father still being an active player and his team having multiple picks. Bronny answered by saying:
"For me, I always try and put that narrative (to rest) and try to get my name out for myself. Just coming in and trying to get better. Rob (Pelinka) has told me that this is a great development system here, so I just want to come in and get my work in and get better everyday." Great useless sports jargon right there, Bronny. He's already a seasoned veteran in giving answers to the media that don't mean anything. But it's the next part of that quote that sports fans are finding hard to believe: "I never really had a thought of me going to play with my dad. That's always there to take part of, but that wasn't a main focus of mine." https://twitter.com/CBSSports/status/1808220407977136221 (*eyes roll as I crack my fingers and continue typing*) Lying must run in the family... If that wasn't Bronny and LeBron's plan, it
really must be just a crazy coincidence that ended up resulting in the NBA's first father and son duo playing together on the same time. Shoutout to the universe for writing this incredible script and letting it play out in Los Angeles of all places...
