Last week, the Los Angeles Lakers selected USC Trojans guard Bronny James with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, effectively teaming him up with his father, LeBron James.

On Tuesday, the Lakers officially introduced Bronny and first-round pick Dalton Knecht and announced that both players will participate in the upcoming Summer League. News also surfaced that Bronny intends to sign a guaranteed multiyear contract with the Lakers.

After their press conference, Bronny sat down with Spectrum SportsNet reporter Mike Trudell to discuss his goals in Summer League action, expressing his desire to prove doubters wrong.

"[I want to] showcase what I've been putting in the work for this whole summer. It's a lot that I've been doing. Getting up early mornings. But, yeah, just going out, being aggressive, being myself, showcasing what I was doing before my incident, and proving myself to the doubters," Bronny said.

NBA fans had mixed reviews of Bronny's comments. Some hoped for the best, and some remained doubtful.

"Y’all done messed around and put the biggest chip ever on [Bronny's] shoulder."

"Homie [doesn't] sound confident to me."

    "Prove them wrong, my boy."

"5 points per game in 37% shooting, brother. There's no doubters. There's literally nobody watching. [That's] 2018 Perk numbers."

"This is going to be an epic fail, or epic. There's no middle. Gonna be fascinating to watch. And they've given him a guaranteed multi-year deal as pick 55? Ok. Can't wait to watch this."

"Yes, let those clowns choke on their words, son."

After suffering a cardiac arrest last Summer, Bronny was still able to play his freshman year in college. In 25 games, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
