Why adding Corey Simms is such a huge deal for USC football

Four-star receiver Corey Simms from Christian Brothers High School in St Louis announced his college commitment earlier this week, choosing USC over Penn State and Missouri.

“I feel like I can go in there and make an impact and be developed as a football player by Lincoln Riley and Coach (Dennis) Simmons,” Simms said of the Trojans.

Simms said more on why he picked the USC Trojans: “I really like how I’ve built a relationship with both coach (Lincoln) Riley and (Dennis) Simmons. I love how USC plans to ensure that players are supported regarding life after football. USC is top in academics and I really liked the climate and culture of the coaching staff and student body.”

The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder is one of the most dynamic wideouts in the 2025 class and all of high school football. Simms is ranked by Rivals as the No. 1 prospect in Missouri in the Class of 2025, the No. 19 wide receiver prospect nationally and the No. 89 prospect nationally overall. On3 ranks him as the No. 3 prospect in the state, while 247Sports rates him as the fifth-best prospect and On3 ranks him as the No. 6 prospect. Simms will likely be behind Makai Lemon, Zachariah Branch, Duce Robinson and Ja’Kobi Lane in Year 1 but will excel and add depth.

Simms reminds me a lot of Philadelphia Eagles receiver AJ Brown with his size, speed and ability to make plays after the catch. I expect Simms to be a main target for 2025 and beyond for the Trojans.
