Valentino gives the Chargers the 19th pick in the draft. In this year’s draft, the Los Angeles Rams were the team that picked 19th. They finished the year 10-7 and made the playoffs. While that record may be where the Chargers finish the year, he doesn’t have the Chargers making the playoffs.

For the player, Valentino has the Chargers taking a familiar face from Michigan;

COLSTON LOVELAND, TE, MICHIGAN

“Not only is it convenient to stick Colston Loveland with former head coach Jim Harbaugh, but it addresses a massive need for the rebuilding Los Angeles Chargers offense. Loveland is the latest tight end prospect with stellar speed, soft hands, and a great change of direction for his size. He would stretch the field for Justin Herbert and the offense.

Valentino lays out a strong case for picking up a tight end and the Michigan connection is an easy one to make. Jim Harbaugh did draft two in this year’s draft, Junior Colson and Cornelius Johnson. Tight ends have always been a big part of the Harbaugh offense.

This would be yet another move to build the offensive side of the ball. While the defense hasn’t been addressed much, save for a handful of bandaids. He leaves Ohio State edge rusher Jack Sawyer and defensive tackle Tyleik Williams on the board.

There is also a growing sentiment that tight ends ought not to be taken in the first round.
