Despite a shaky start to his NBA career, the Los Angeles Lakers aren't backing down on their plan for Bronny James this summer.

The eldest son of LeBron James, taken by the Lakers in the second round of the NBA Draft, got off to a rough start in his summer league debut as the Lakers fell to the Sacramento Kings 108-94. James struggled to find his footing on the floor, making just 2-of-9 shots and missing all three of his three-point attempts, along with both free throws. He ended the game with 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal in 22 minutes.

Following the game, Lakers summer league coach Dane Johnson said the team still plans to keep James on the floor as much as possible so he can develop.

"Lakers summer league coach Dane Johnson says that the tentative plan is for Bronny James to play in every game this summer as LA looks to get him as many reps as possible," Jovan Buha of The Athletic wrote on X.

Johnson added that it was good for James to get his first taste of NBA play.

"He has good instincts already, just finding that consistency within those; he'll build throughout summer league and into the season," he said, via reporter Mike Trudell on X .

James did flash some potential in the loss, showing off his offensive skills with a nice step-back jumper in the third quarter.
