Gritz N Wafflez closes for day due to vehicle theft

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The popular Los Angeles restaurant Gritz N Wafflez was forced to close for business Sunday morning due to a vehicle theft, according to the owner.

"It's been a DAY and it's only 6:30 a.m. As I was loading up groceries for today, I realized that I forgot milk and macaroni. I run in and grab it and come out and my car is gone," owner Jurni Rayne posted on Instagram.

"I know I shouldn't have left it running, but I THOUGHT that it wouldn't get far without my keys (I still have them). So I call the police at 5 a.m. At 6:30 a.m. and I decided to go to the station...only to find out they (don't) open til 7. Honestly, I'm upset about the car, but I'm more upset about my groceries," Rayne continued.

"Needless to say, we are closing for today because we won't have enough food to get through even half the day. If y'all see a Black Nissan Rogue with Zeta Phi Beta in the rear plate. It's pretty dusty and dirty."

Anyone with information regarding the vehicle theft was urged to call the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart station at 213-484-3400, or at 877- 527-3247 during non-business hours or on weekends. Located at 1243 S. Alvarado St., the eatery was established in 2021 by Rayne, a restaurateur who relocated to Los Angeles in 2014 from Dallas, Texas.
