Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

Before Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, manager Dave Roberts held a team meeting where he announced who would be representing the Dodgers in the All-Star Game this year.

It turned out to be a long announcement.

For the third time since 2017 , the Dodgers will send six representatives to the Midsummer Classic. This year it will be held in Arlington, Texas at Globe Life Field where the Dodgers won the World Series in 2020.

The first person Roberts announced was Mookie Betts. However, Betts won't play this year as he is recovering from a fractured left hand .

This is Betts' eighth All-Star selection and fourth as a Dodger. For the first time in his career, Betts was voted in as a shortstop.

The next player Roberts announced was catcher Will Smith. This is Smith's second time going to the All-Star Game.

Roberts called Smith "the best [player] at his position in the game." Smith has had an amazing start to July . In four games he has four home runs and owns a 1.188 OPS.

Next to be announced was the only All-Star Game starter for Los Angeles, Shohei Ohtani. This is Ohtani's fourth All-Star Game and his first with the Dodgers.

Ohtani leads the National League in home runs with 28 and is second only to Aaron Judge in all of MLB in OPS with 1.036.

Teoscar Hernández was announced as the next All-Star. Hernández signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers in the offseason and has been worth every penny.

Hernández leads National League outfielders in home runs with 19 and RBIs with 60. He also has expressed interest in participating in the home run derby.

The only pitcher to make the All-Star team is Tyler Glasnow, who is in his first season of a five-year, $136.5M contract .

This is the first selection for Glasnow, who has always had the talent in the past but had trouble staying on the field due to injury. He has stayed healthy this year, setting a career-high in innings pitched while leading the National League in strikeouts with 143.

The final All-Star announced by Roberts was Freddie Freeman. Like Betts, Freeman is making his eighth trip to the Midsummer Classic.

Freeman has been a consistent hitter in the game for years now. If it weren't for Bryce Harper now playing at first base, Freeman would be leading the position in almost every statistic. He is just behind Harper in batting average and OPS.

While only six players have been announced so far, more can join the roster as other players drop out or become unavailable.
