After showing impressive glimpses in his Los Angeles Lakers Summer League debut last week , Bronny James was not able to suit up for the team's second game after struggling with a knee injury.

LeBron James' eldest son and the newest Laker to the roster had his knee swell up over the weekend, and was held back from the game against the Golden State Warriors. A disappointing blow for James Jr, with many fans looking forward to see him in action in purple and gold after the team selected him with the 55th pick in the draft .

However, fans will not have to wait too long to see him back in action, with Bronny expected to play on Wednesday’s last 'California Classic' game against the Miami Heat.

James will look to impress in the game on Wednesday, after he shot just 2 of 9 for four points with two rebounds and two assists over 22 minutes on the court - missing all of his three-point attempts and bricking both of his free throws.

The 19-year-old admitted he had nerves when stepping out on the floor for the first time as a professional, stating: "Yeah, of course. I mean, every first game I’ve played at the next level there are always butterflies in my stomach.

"But as soon as the ball tips and you go a couple times up and down, it goes away and I’m just playing basketball. It’s always going to be there, but you get through it."

He added: "Maybe the atmosphere. It was more than I expected. I mean, it’s a big game for me, but I don’t know. Purple and Gold came and repped for themselves, it was nice to see."

James Sr and Bronny could become the first father-son pair to play in the NBA at the same time and doing so together. The 39-year-old signed an extension to remain with the team just days after his eldest son was drafted to them - confirming that his career will end with the Lakers.

But firstly, Bronny must look to impress to make his way onto the Lakers roster, with the rookie being told that he is likely to be with the G-league team throughout the majority of his rookie season .
