College Coach Makes Harsh Statement About Bronny James’ Skill Level

    By Michael Gallagher,

Doug Gottlieb has zero experience as a college basketball coach, and even he believes Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James isn’t good enough to crack the starting lineup for his University of Wisconsin-Green Bay team.

Gottlieb was recently asked via Twitter point-blank if James was good enough to start for his squad, to which the sports talk radio host-turned-mid-major head coach replied that he wasn’t.

“He would compete to start, but while I like how he moves the ball and defends, he wouldn’t be my point, and my wings are bigger and without seeing him w/us, I think it would be hard for him to start [to be honest],” Gottlieb responded .

James is in a self-admitted slump in the NBA Summer League. He went 0-of-8 from 3-point range and finished 3-of-14 overall while scoring eight points with five rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes in Friday’s 99-80 loss to the Houston Rockets.

He’s shot 6-for-26 through three games with four steals and three blocks, and has yet to knock down a 3. James has struggled to find any sort of rhythm and its evident his jump shot needs quite a bit of work.

After Friday’s loss, James said he would be open to starting the season in the G-League if need be.
