    Investigation Underway Into Fatal Shooting of Suspect Involving LAPD in South Los Angeles

    SOUTH LOS ANGELES, July 15 (KNN) — The Los Angeles Police Department is actively investigating LAPD’s 77th Division officer-involved shooting that took place on the 400 block of West 66th Street, west of Flower, in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood within South Los Angeles, according to initial information regarding the incident.

    Preliminary information from the LAPD’s investigation thus far posted to X Sunday morning, indicates that the shooting occurred Saturday night, around 10:25 p.m. A 77th Street Vice sergeant was on duty in plain clothes in an unmarked police vehicle when an officer-involved shooting occurred.

    “One male suspect was struck by gunfire, transported to a local hospital where he has died. Following the OIS, a vehicle pursuit ensued and three people have been detained,” stated the LAPD.

    The circumstances surrounding the shooting have yet to be revealed by the LAPD.

    As the investigation continues, the LAPD said additional information will be provided. However, there were no further updates as of late Sunday night.
