A general view of a USC Trojans football helmet.

It's a big win for USC, especially considering the competition.

The Trojans have landed the commitment for Tanook Hines, a four-star wide receiver from Houston, Texas. He committed to Lincoln Riley and staff over the likes of Texas, Notre Dame and Arizona State.

Stealing Hines from Texas is a huge deal for the Trojans, and they can thank their ability to create relationships for the recruiting win.

Hines told 247Sports that Riley and wideout coach Dennis Simmons were two major reasons he chose USC. He also liked what he saw from his soon-to-be companions at wideout.

"Seeing their receivers room, their coaches and their receivers. "Seeing how they play there, how they're a family and have a great education for business, I think it's a good spot," he said of USC. "They showed me how they would use me in their playbook and I can see how they throw the ball."

According to 247Sports, Hines is the No. 35 wide receiver in the 2025 class. He's perhaps best known for his speed as a wide receiver. Also a member of the track team in high school, he ran a 10.45 100-yard dash and a 20.71 200, which earned him the silver medal in the Texas 6A division.

Hines is not planning on resting on his laurels now that he's committed, though.

"Really I know I have to keep getting better and keep producing," he said,.
