The 2024 MLB Home Run had lots of memorable moments. One that caught the attention of fans involved New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto and some Los Angeles Dodgers stars.

Soto joined Teoscar Hernandez, Shohei Ohtani, and Tyler Glasnow during a huddle in the middle of Hernandez’s Derby round. Also in the group was Toronto Blue Jays slugger and 2023 Derby champion Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

There was nothing wrong at all with that little conference of baseball stars, but leave it to the internet to come up with head-turning theories.

Some think that it was a sign that Soto is primed to join the Dodgers in the offseason.

    “ANDREW FRIEDMAN DO IT”

    “Vlad, Soto to the Dodgers...”

“A soto shuffle in dodger blue would feed families forever”

“Juan Soto to the Dodgers confirmed.”

Meanwhile, others seem to think that Soto merely used the moment to scare the Yankees into pumping up a potential extension offer.

“Soto already working free agency and using the Dodgers and Yankees to raise the price for the real team he ends up on 😂”

“He says that so the Yankees and Dodgers and everybody else will bid higher on his next contract.”

Soto, of course, will be an unrestricted free agent by the end of the 2024 season. He was traded by the Washington Nationals to the Yankees last December and signed a one-year deal worth $31 million with New York last January.

The Dodgers have an absurd collection of talents on their roster with Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts. Could they somehow find a way to steal Soto in free agency?

That’s a pipe dream for now for the Dodgers, especially since they already have an incredible amount of money committed to their stars, and signing someone like Soto would add a tremendous load on their financial capabilities.

On the season, Soto is batting .295/.426/.558 with a remarkable 175 OPS+.
