The Los Angeles Lakers are strengthening their coaching team by bringing in Lindsey Harding, the G League Coach of the Year from the Stockton Kings, as an assistant coach.

Sources confirmed to ESPN that Harding has agreed to join the Lakers, reconnecting with head coach JJ Redick.

Harding’s relationship with Redick goes back to their time at Duke University, where both were standout players.

They later worked together on the Philadelphia 76ers’ staff, further solidifying their professional connection.

Joining the Lakers bench this season, Harding will work alongside Nate McMillan, Scott Brooks, and Greg St. Jean.

At 40, Harding has steadily climbed the coaching ranks following her retirement from a nine-year WNBA career.

She was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 WNBA Draft and played a pivotal role in her teams’ successes.

Her recent tenure with the Stockton Kings saw her lead the team to the Western Conference finals in her first season as head coach.

Her impressive performance earned her the G League Coach of the Year award, highlighting her capability to transition effectively from player development roles to head coaching positions.

Harding also interviewed for the Charlotte Hornets’ head-coaching job, a position ultimately filled by Charles Lee.

Her addition to the Lakers’ staff is expected to bring a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
