Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James.

Bronny James finally broke out of his early shooting slump at the 2024 NBA Summer League on Wednesday night in the Los Angeles Lakers' first victory in three games.

The Lakers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 87-86, with top scorer and 2024 first-round pick Dalton Knecht receiving the night off.

The Lakers had multiple players step up in Knecht's absence, but James drew the most attention, scoring 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and 2-of-5 from three-point range.

After knocking down just 4-of-19 attempts from the field and missing all 11 of his three-point attempts, Bronny got it going early and managed to shake off his rough start in the first two games.

Following the game, the younger James spoke to reporters and was asked what the biggest thing LeBron had told him through the first two games was, as ClutchPoints revealed .

“[He's telling me] stay aggressive. Even though my shot hasn't been falling, just to stay aggressive," James said.

James also spoke to ESPN's Katie George following the game and was asked to assess his performance. The 19-year-old responded candidly and took a great approach to getting through his early struggles.

"Just trying to forget about all the shots I missed, forget about all the games we lost, just come out and play my game," James told George.

The young Lakers guard showed flashes of the upside that many analysts and others, including JJ Redick and Rob Pelinka, previously highlighted in the win.

Bronny's response following the team's first two losses was impressive, but now it'll be worth watching to see if he can parlay Wednesday's showing into consistent production.

James will have the chance to build on Wednesday's victory right away, as the Lakers have a quick turnaround and will face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET in a game televised by ESPN.
