On Wednesday (July 17) afternoon, police in Hawthorne began chasing a vehicle connected to an armed robbery earlier in the day in Beverly Hills.
As the driver fled, the Hawthorne police requested assistance from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Eventually, the driver pulled over, and three men jumped out of the car.
Officers managed to detain two of the suspects, but the third man got into a Kia sedan and fled the scene as officers gave chase. As he drove dangerously through the streets of Los Angeles, the suspect went on Instagram and started livestreaming the chase as his girlfriend screamed at him to stop and let her and their infant daughter out.
"This is sheriffs, they going to kill me," he responds.
"You're not thinking about your baby right now," she says. "You're fixing to get your baby killed."
"Bro, I don't want to go back to jail," he says.
"It's over, bro, it's over," she screams back. "It's reality."
The chase came to an end when the suspect turned down a dead-end street. The driver refused to leave, telling the officers he had a baby in the car. After a few minutes, the woman and child were released from the vehicle, and the suspect was detained without incident.
He is facing numerous charges, including carjacking, kidnapping, armed robbery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
"It's crazy to think that not only is this guy driving like a madman, not only does he have his two-month-old daughter in the car and his child's mother, but he's taking the time to get on his phone and livestream the whole thing," said Deputy Tony Lomedico . "It goes beyond words when you meet an individual like that."
