Former USC Trojans quarterback Matt Leinart is considered one of the greatest in college football history. He was a top-six finisher for the Heisman Trophy each year from 2003 to 2005 and won the trophy in 2004.

In 2017, the star quarterback was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame due to his exceptional career. Leinart works as an analyst for Fox's Big Noon Kickoff , which airs before the major Fox game at noon ET. He still continues to be a strong supporter of his Trojans.

Leinart disagreed with ESPN's Paul Finebaum's comments about USC and head coach Lincoln Riley. Finebaum stated that last season was one of the worst coaching performances he had ever witnessed. He said that if he were the athletic director, he would have fired Riley. This comes after the Trojans achieved an 8-5 record in Year 2 under Riley, following an 11-3 record in Year 1.

Leinart tweeted, "Listening to Finebaum talk about USC and Riley makes me want to puke. I see you, Doggy!"

"Doggy" is referring to Chris "Mad Dog" Russo, who had a heated debate with Finebaum on First Take about Riley. Russo argued that Riley didn't inherit a strong program, but in his first season, he helped USC win another Heisman Trophy. To emphasize his point, Russo stated that USC is a superior program compared to Oklahoma, where Riley previously coached. He concluded by telling Finebaum, "Go talk about Vanderbilt football."

Leinart opposes the criticism of his alma mater's head coach which could make 2024 a crucial season for Riley to silence the chatter.
