Lakers' Rookie Quietly Putting On A Show In The Summer League

    By Cole Sullivan,

Los Angeles Lakers first-round pick Dalton Knecht has quietly been one of the best and most consistent players through his last four games in the Lakers Summer League.

    Dalton Knecht's last four games:

    • 20 PTS, 7 REB, and 1 AST
    • 19 PTS, 3 REB, and 2 AST
    • 25 PTS, 6 REB, and 4 AST
    • 20 PTS, 9 REB, and 1 AST

Knecht was considered a steal when he slipped all the way to 17th overall when he was projected by most media companies to be a top-ten pick. Yet, the Lakers got their hands on him and didn't let the opportunity to select one of the best offensive talents in the draft pass.

His ability to score at all three levels while creating for others is one that goes a long way at the NBA level, and he has those tools. His defense needs improvement, yet he has shown a lot of promise thus far in the Summer League on the defensive end. With time, he has the capabilities to be a very formable defender at the professional level.
