Chris Taylor Likely Heading to Injured List, James Outman Will Return to Dodgers

Chris Taylor is likely heading to the injured list on Thursday, Los Angles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the team’s 8-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night.

Taylor was forced to leave the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with what the team later called left groin soreness. After the game, Roberts said it’s expected to be an IL situation, and outfielder James Outman is on his way back to Los Angeles to return to the active roster.

“I’m assuming it’s an IL,” Roberts said. “Hopefully it’s not much more than that.”

Taylor felt the injury while rounding first base after a double in the seventh inning to break up the Giants’ no-hit bid. Taylor said he felt the injury “grab on him,” but he wasn’t sure of the severity. He’s set to undergo imaging on Thursday.

“I don’t want to guess or speculate,” Taylor said. “I didn’t feel like a pop or anything like that so I’m hoping it’s very minor.”

Roberts sounded a little more concerned, and said Outman is en route to Los Angeles to replace Taylor on the active roster assuming he goes on the IL.

This comes just hours after starting shortstop Miguel Rojas was placed on the injured list with a flexor strain. The Dodgers had to sign and immediately activate veteran shortstop Nick Ahmed, who went 1-for-3 on Wednesday night in his Dodgers debut.

The trade deadline is less than six days away on July 30. The needs for the Dodgers are only continuing to increase.
