Dodgers trading for Amed Rosario from Rays amid busy pre-deadline day

The Dodgers continued to bolster their roster as they hunt for their second World Series title in four years on Monday in a deal with the Rays to acquire infielder Amed Rosario.
This is the second consecutive season that Los Angeles has acquired Rosario at the trade deadline – the Dodgers acquired him last year in a deal with the Guardians – and sent minor league pitcher Michael Flynn to Tampa in exchange.
Rosario had signed a one-year, $1.5 million with the Rays in February and had been slashing .307/.331/.417 with two home runs in 76 games this season.
He has played second, third, shortstop and right field for Tampa this year.
In his first stint with the Dodgers, he hit .256/.301/.408 and played against mostly left-handed pitchers during a season in which Los Angeles was swept in the NLDS by the Diamondbacks.
The trade comes after the Dodgers had been part of an earlier three-team trade that involved the White Sox and Cardinals and brought utilityman Tommy Edman, right-hander Michael Kopech, and prospect pitcher Oliver Gonzalez to Hollywood.
The flurry of activity by the Dodgers comes as Tuesday’s MLB trade deadline looms and Los Angeles attempts to fortify their roster as they deal with a number of key injuries.
Mookie Betts (broken hand), Max Muncy (oblique strain), Miguel Rojas (flexor strain) and Chris Taylor (left groin strain) are all dealing with injuries.
