A general view of USC Trojans football helmet.

It will go down as an important recruiting win for Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans.

Facing competition on the recruiting trail that included Georgia, Oklahoma, Missouri, Ole Miss, Utah and Washington, the Trojans came away with the commitment for 2026 cornerback/athlete Joshua Holland from St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California.

Holland is a two-way player who could end up on either offense or defense at the college level. At 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, he projects to be a wideout or cornerback depending on what USC sees him being able to develop over the next few seasons.

247Sports ranks him as the No. 30 cornerback in the 2026 class. For what it's worth, On3 is a bit higher on him, though that recruiting network has yet to commit him to one side of the ball or the other. Per On3, he's a four-star athlete, ranked No. 30 at that position nationally.

For Holland, it was a visit to see USC in person that made him go the Trojans' way.

"My visit to USC was one of the best visits I've had," Holland told Chris Trevino of 247Sports . "The visit consisted of taking a tour, meeting members of the staff, and also building relationships with coaches.

There's still plenty of time for things to change, but USC's 2026 class is off to a great start.

It's currently ranked No. 3 in the country, with Holland being Riley's fifth 2026 commitment.
